The mission of the Steamboat Springs Center for Visual Arts (CVA) is to be an educational community resource for the understanding and appreciation of the visual arts and a source of inspiration, encouragement, and professional career development for local artists and residents. Our reach currently covers Routt and Moffat Counties including the cities of Steamboat Springs, Oak Creek, Hayden and Craig.
Through our Emerging Artist Program (EAP) the CVA provides affordable, professional exhibition space for local and regional artists at our gallery located at 837 Lincoln Avenue, Steamboat Springs. This space is open to artists regardless of their commercial viability, and is designed to provide free, hands-on guidance and education for the artists. Assistance is given in exhibition preparation, portfolio selection, framing, hanging, artist statement design, public presentation of work, and the process of being professionally represented by a gallery. Artists retain 70% of the revenue from the sale of their work
First Friday Artwalk: The CVA coordinates and promotes this exciting art stroll of museums, galleries and venues for everyone to enjoy our wonderfully diverse art scene. Artwalk is one of Steamboat’s most successful monthly events attracting residents and tourists to the downtown business district. In 2012, the CVA launched a Guest Artist Lecture Series designed to provide professional development and opportunity for artistic discussion for emerging artists and art appreciators. Funded in part by a grant from Yampa Valley Community Foundation, Alpine Bank and the City of Steamboat Springs.
